overview of JogMyDog

by Kyler Laird last modified 2009-03-21 14:15

Laird Therapy Dog Rescue is based out of West Lafayette, Indiana, home of Purdue University. We have wonderful trails and lots of students who enjoy jogging on them. I have enjoyed jogging on the trails with my dogs and have been asked a few times if I'm a dog walker. (Apparently jogging with six dogs doesn't seem like a normal family outing to some people.) One such conversation started me thinking about the value that a dog jogging service could provide both to dogs and people.

Dogs need exercise and it's even better when they're moving through and interacting with the community.  People also need exercise but many dog owners don't have the time or capabilities to jog with their own dogs. Many Purdue students jog regularly and would love to have dogs accompany them.  JogMyDog brings these needs together for everyone's benefit and adds our rescue dogs into the mix to help motivate and socialize client dog.

We are in the early stages of this venture and need help identifying how to best work with the community on this. You can participate! If you have a dog you'd like to go jogging or you jog and want to take dogs with you, please send us your location and exercise schedule using our contact form. Thank you!
